Home Studio Recording

I am building a Home Recording Studio in my basement. I would like to know if the best way to soundproof a room is by using Auralex. I want the music from this room to not be heard at all upstairs. Some have told me that I need to build walls with soundproofing materials. I have not got a clue where such materials would be purchased. If you have a clue, please help.
